Somatic Jungian Therapy for existential crisis

“Why do I feel so empty, even though my life is fine?”

“I don’t even know who I am  anymore.”

“Am I having an existential crisis?”

You’ve spent your whole life trying to do the right thing. You’ve worked hard, done the personal work, been successful in lots of ways. So why does it feel like none of it even matters?

An existential crisis can happen when we’re no longer sure that our religion “fits.” When we graduate. Or our kids leave the house. At retirement. After an unexpected illness, or death. Or after we’ve met what seemed to be a big goal-- only to find that it didn’t bring us the fulfillment we were expecting.

We’re also living in times that feel especially turbulent. War, social injustice, and rampant corruption are the norm; the climate is in crisis. Many of us are struggling in countless ways, asking ourselves, what is it I am meant to do in this world? How can I possibly be of service? Does anything I do matter?

These “dark nights of the soul” can feel debilitating. We have no energy, no sense of humor. We feel lost; nothing seems to matter anymore.

As soul-crushing as these symptoms can be, the good news is that they are actually meaningful. And they have something important to tell you about where we go from here.

Hi, I'm Laura.

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern located online throughout Florida and in Stuart and Palm City, FL.

I know what it’s like to feel lost-- to know that something just isn’t right, but I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ve been through more than one existential crisis, and now I help others to navigate these challenging moments.

Jungian psychology understands that existential crises are a normal and healthy part of life (although they can feel absolutely terrible). Those feelings of emptiness, meaninglessness, which we sometimes call “the dark night of the soul,” may actually be symptoms pointing us toward a life of greater authenticity.

Through a somatic (body-based) approach to Jung’s work, we will explore what your unconscious psyche is trying to tell you. We’ll uncover the patterns that are outdated or no longer working for you.

My experience is that as my clients identify the parts of their life that do feel meaningful, vital, and life-affirming, they not only find relief from the pain and angst of feeling lost in their own life-- they discover a new wealth of energy and well-being they couldn’t even have imagined previously.

My practice is neuro-divergent affirming, fat-friendly, body-neutral, and welcomes all worldviews and spiritual traditions. You are welcome, just as you are.

I can’t wait to meet you!

The meaning of my existence  is that life has addressed a question to me. Or, conversely, I myself am a question which is addressed to the world, and I must communicate my answer, for otherwise I am dependent upon the world’s answer.
